Asking a General Contractor & Custom Home Builder how much a construction project is going to cost before he’s worked up an estimate is a loaded question. As loaded as it may be, I still get a lot of questions about pricing.
Each and every project, customer and situation is very different. But I put these graphs together to give our potential customers an idea of how much things cost.
These prices are national averages, not ours. But we do see our construction costs follow the national averages very closely.
The Average Cost To Build A Custom Home
I usually tell people that building a custom home will cost them somewhere between $150 and $200 a square foot. And they can go up from there as high as they want. But we can build a nice custom home for about $175 a square foot, not including the property.
The Average Cost Of A Whole House Remodel
If you want to remodel the entire interior and exterior of your home from stem to stern. It’s going to run you somewhere between $200,000 and $300,000. Depending on the size of the home and your tastes.
The Average Cost Of A Home Addition
Looking to add on a master suite? Mother-in-law’s quarters? Or maybe a great room? The average cost of a home addition is about $85,000. Depending on the project, we see them usually range between $75,000 and $125,000. Of course, smaller additions will not cost as much as the larger ones. But this should give you an idea of how much it costs to add onto your home.
The Average Cost Of A Kitchen Remodel
The average cost of a Kitchen Remodel is somewhere between $50,000 and $60,000. We like to tell people that we can gut, move a couple walls/doors/windows and put a really nice kitchen back together for about $55,000. Of course, this price is determined by your home, tastes and all of the details you want to throw in. Our kitchen remodel price is right where the national average is.
