How Much Is My Kitchen Remodel Going To Cost?

Well, this is always one of the first questions I get when we head out to a potential customers home to take a look at their renovation project. And it is a hard one to answer because I can usually ballpark the bare bones of the remodel, but the fit and finish can make or break your budget. Literally. By fit and finish I mean all the pretty things you see on the outside, counter tops, sinks, faucets, flooring, back splash, etc. You can go simple and save quite a bit of money, or you can go big with beautiful luxury finishes. That part is all up to you. Whichever path you choose, we are here to guide you along the way to finally get you that kitchen you need.

Where Do I Begin?

First off, you need an idea of what you want done to your kitchen. It doesn’t have to be a complete layout and design plan, just a feeling. The best way we have found to give a customer what they want in their remodel is to have them pull pictures off of the internet and out of magazines. Show us what you like, and do your best to explain to us how you want your kitchen to function. Dishwasher on the left or right of the sink? Think about what works best for you, and tell us. Do you have a million dish towels? We can make a spot for them that helps you cook and clean more efficiently. Think about all of those little details you want, and get us pictures that you like the ‘feel’ of. We can take it from there with layout and functionality.

Layout Visualization Trouble.

A lot of people have trouble with visualizing proposed kitchen layouts. It’s understandable, we do this every day and have learned how to see things that haven’t been renovated yet. Sometimes we get carried away, and forget that not everyone can visualize our ideas as easily as we can. That is why I have been honing my 3D modeling skills. I can generate a 3D model of your kitchen, which is the best way for us to show you exactly how your project will look and function. If you’re having trouble visualizing, just let us know. We are more than happy to help.

How Long Is This Going To Take?

That depends a lot on you. We can get in and out of a renovation project in a few months if all of our ducks are in a row. We will give you homework before we even begin your kitchen project. This will include things like selecting your finishes, and finalizing your layout and design. When those things are chosen, we take it from there and can get your project completed pretty quickly. The problems come when the customer makes big changes, isn’t happy with their own selections, or drags their feet on making those selections. We will do our best to make this whole thing run as smoothly as possible, but a lot of the time frame rests on your shoulders.

Can I Live In My Home While You Work?

The quick answer is yes. There are a lot of messy general contractors out there, but we do our best to work with you in making your home the most comfortable construction zone you have ever lived in. We cover everything with tarps, and protect the rest of your home with cardboard and plastic sheathing. We even mask off the area we are working in to bring down the amount of dust that gets into the rest of your home. There is going to be dust, don’t get me wrong. But we do our best to eliminate it. The only caveat to the whole kitchen renovation process is having small children around. Construction projects are a mess, full of dust and dangerous for children. It is doable, but would be ideal if you could have a place for your kids to stay at least while we work. We will do our best to make your home livable while we work, I can make that promise.

So if your thinking about remodeling your kitchen, there is no better time than the present. Give us a call for a free in home consultation and estimate. We look forward to hearing from, and working with you.
